our story

From "Dream Home" to DIY Drama

ToolDay founders thought moving to the picturesque Pacific Northwest in 2022 sounded like a dream. They'd scored a seemingly great new-build home for a deal and were ready to embrace the PNW lifestyle - hiking, camping, and sailing every weekend.

A few months in, their "perfect" new home was revealing more flaws than a really bad first date. Suddenly, they weren't homeowners; they were accidental DIY experts-in-training. Their weekends became a blur of YouTube "how-to" searches and costly trips to the hardware store.

They also quickly realized the struggle wasn't just about finding the next project's tools and materials, it was about the lost time, inefficiency, risk and inconvenience baked into the whole process.

What Could Go Wrong?

A limited budget and a growing task list led them down the digital dark alleys of platforms like Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace. Sure, they saved a few bucks on tools and materials, but quickly became tired of the searching and random meetups with some anxiety-inducing sellers in sketchy, remote places.

ToolDay was born from the conviction that finding what you need for your next project should be safe, affordable, easy and fast, so you can get on with doing what you love sooner rather than later.
