our story
The "Dream Home" That Wasn't
In 2022, ToolDay’s founder moved to the Pacific Northwest for a job. She and her partner purchased what they thought would be a dream home - a newly constructed home with a million dollar view. But a few months in, their "perfect" new home began revealing more flaws than a bad first date. It turned out that the building contractor cut corners at every turn. Suddenly, they weren't homeowners; they were fixers and DIY experts-in-training, spending their weekends lost in YouTube "how-to" loops and costly hardware store runs.
The "Parking Lot Gamble"
With a growing task list and a limited budget, our founder turned to the digital dark alleys of Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace in attempts to balance their home repair project budget. The experience was exhausting. She was tired of the "parking lot gamble"—meeting strangers in sketchy spots just to save a few bucks. Nevermind when a tool didn't work as expected and the seller refused to offer a refund. It wasn't just the safety risk; it was the "BS" that came with it.
Born in a Garage, Not a Boardroom
ToolDay was born from that frustration. ToolDay isn't a corporate project; we’re a community-driven response to a broken standard.
ToolDay gives users a better option that doesn't pad the pockets of corrupt and irresponsbile billionaires running the big-box retailers and sites like eBay and Facebook Marketplace.
We are building a community of other DIYers, makers, and tradespeople - especially women who are often overlooked in this space - where our members can build their skills, get reliable advice, get some inspiration for their next project and lock in their next deal on tools and equipment.
ToolDay is proud to be woman-founded and community-focused. We’re making it easier for women in the trades and the DIY scene to find the gear they need without the BS.
A Note From Our Founder
"I built ToolDay because I was over the retail markup and the sketchy meetups. I wanted an online workshop where makers and DIYers can grab a pro-grade deal, share a tip, and take on their next project with confidence—minus the hassle and noise."
Our Big Plans
We’ve started with a marketplace for tools because it was the most immediate need, but we aren't stopping here. We are carving out a space for the grinders, the welders, and the weekend warriors. Our goal is a fully integrated platform that supports our community across every step of their project, eliminating the lost time and inefficiency that have plagued DIYers for too long.
ToolDay is for those who love a good deal, won’t settle for crappy tools, and want to get back to doing what they love sooner.
